The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is the professional body in the sport of darts, with its global circuit of tournaments producing over £15 million in prize money every year.
Formed in 1992 under the initial name of the World Darts Council (WDC) after the top 16 professional players decided to break away from the British Darts Organisation (BDO) – the PDC has grown from strength to strength to become one of the largest globally broadcast sports in the World.
The PDC hosts several televised major competitions annually – the PDC World Darts Championship, the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, UK Open, Premier League, and Grand Slam of Darts.
Each major tournament features its unique competition format, qualifying criteria and prize fund, which contributes to the PDC ranking system – the Order of Merit.
Supplementary to the TV majors, the PDC holds ProTour and European Tour events throughout the year, which provide prize money to the 128 Tour Card Holders and the opportunity to qualify for the televised majors.

The Dutch Darts Masters has been added as the seventh and final tournament on the 2022 World Series of Darts schedule, as the sport’s top stars head to Amsterdam on June 24-25.
Eight of the PDC’s top stars, including three-time World Champion Michael van Gerwen, will be in action against eight top Dutch talents in a knockout format.
The event promises to be a massive weekend for Dutch darts at the Ziggo Dome, the largest indoor arena in the Netherlands.
Alongside Van Gerwen, reigning World Champion Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price headline the field of PDC representatives, alongside Premier League stars Jonny Clayton, James Wade and Michael Smith, Belgian number one Dimitri Van den Bergh and history-maker Fallon Sherrock.
The eight Dutch representatives will be confirmed on May 31 as the eight highest non-qualified Dutch Tour Card Holders on the PDC Order of Merit, which will include 2022 UK Open champion Danny Noppert and Saturday’s Players Championship winner Dirk van Duijvenbode.
